Acidic & Alkaline Foods
Following a more alkaline diet is a great way to support your health. An overly acidic diet is associated with many health problems including dental and gum disease, obesity, kidney problems, cardiovascular disease, and cancer (to name just a few).
The list below offers a quick reference to help figure out which foods are more alkaline and which are more acidic (and which you might want to avoid).
There are eight categories outlined here. Choosing foods from the four alkaline categories (shown with green headings) and avoiding foods from the four acidic categories (shown with red headings) will be the goal. Notice some foods are highly alkaline. These would be excellent to eat. Foods that are highly acidic should especially be avoided.
**Note: foods are categorized by the effect they have on the body (ie. make the body more acidic / more alkaline), not by the pH of the foods themselves.
