Insurance Companies Eligible for Direct Billing
I offer direct billing for most extended health insurance providers, making it easier to access naturopathic care without paying the full cost upfront. Coverage and reimbursement amounts vary between plans, so I recommend confirming your individual benefits before your appointment to avoid unexpected (and unpleasant) surprises!
A few key questions to ask your insurer:
- How much naturopathic coverage do I have per year?
- Does this coverage include lab tests ordered by my naturopathic doctor?
- What percent coverage do I have for each lab test and/or appointment (ex. 80% coverage)? Is there a cap?
- Ask the insurer this question to get even more clarity about how your plan will work for you: if an appointment is $300, exactly how much will I have to pay out of pocket at the time of my appointment?
Note: Insurance plans can be surprisingly complicated!
For example, a plan may state that it covers 80% of naturopathic visits up to a maximum eligible expense of $200 per visit. This means that if your appointment costs more than $200, the insurer will only consider the first $200 eligible for reimbursement and pay 80% of that amount. In this example, the insurance payment would be $160 (80% × $200), and you would be responsible for any remaining balance. We recommend reviewing the fine print of your plan or contacting your insurer if you're unsure about your coverage.
