The down side? While video chat allows the doctor to see the patient and make some evaluation based on appearance, technology hasn't yet become so advanced that a proper physical exam can be conducted. There is always the possibility that something could therefore be missed, and in some cases, a physical exam with a physician in your area may be recommended, if possible.
